OWL

waaaay back in summer my friend hayles asked me to make an owl for her, using the fabric from a worn out bag she used to love. She wanted it based on the existing owl cushions that are all over the shops at the mo, so I used them as a rough template and gave it a twist inspired by the mexican day of the dead, flowery skulls. Given that my sewing machine hates me, it made applique really hard... fancy buying me a new one for xmas?

So Im really desperate to post my xmas card/wrapping paper images but I don't want to spoil the suprise for thoes I have sent them to soooo you will have to wait till eve/day... I hear the postal service is literally snowed under so I don't rekon anyone will recieve my 2nd class (Im such a cheapskate.) cards til new year. sorry guys. In the mean time, I will be smothering myself in some sexy knitwear and an amazing christmas jumper which my mum has reluctantly lent me. I think I may have to post pics of this jumper its so big and mental.

I was asked to design some nice wallpapers, potentially for the zoo media website. heres some of the samples i designed...

the situation.

well, my laptop died, hence the lack of work posted over the last month... but luckily its been rescued by a lovely person at a computer repair shop :)
so work updates coming soon...
also internship ends in a couple of weeks so looking forward to a change of direction, i have ideas.

Sooo I have just started an 8 week internship with the lovely people at zoo media located on regent street. one of the projects I have been helping out with is the new south molton street website... heres my illustration of a section in the street.

I've been working a bit on the website today, I should probably put "under construction" or something... anyway this is sort of how i want to present each project, maybe this looks a bit mental tho? hmm.

camera cushions.

SO I cant keep them to myself any longer... I made these mini cushions the other week and Im feeling a mini collection coming on. I found this cafe/cocktail bar in kings cross called Drink Shop & Do and they sell stuff from new emerging designers, so Im hoping to make some more stuff and pay them a visit.

ahh so im all graduated and my time in leicester has ended... what have i been doing recently? well to be honest spending too much and catching up with my lovely friends who i have missed very much. now thought i have decided its time to sort my life out and write an epic list. actually thats a lie, i wrote this list about a month ago, ive just been adding things to it. anyway if i put it on my blog then its an incentive to actually do things on it since its like making it official. yes.

So for the degree show zine me, lowri, dea and chris all designed stickers to seal the containing bags shut. At first I wasn't keen on mine, so I didn't blog them, but they are growing on me...







As for the lack of posting, I've been busy moving back into my parents house and painting my room. For the past 4 days I've been sleeping on the living room floor and I can't bloody wait to move into my room tonight! Tomo I will be seeing the LCC degree show to see Kim McEvoy's work and friday I'm going to the new designers exhib to see Rosy Chetwynd-Appleton and Millie Fenner-Hudson's work. Lushhhh.

a mate of mine kendall wright wrote this amazing essay which were using for the degree show zine im helping work on, last night I made this layout Im pretty pleased with. sadly theres no budget for colour so itll be printed in b/w, but it doesn't stop me from posting the colour version on here.

so ive spent the past week drawing lots but im still undecided on the business cards, the idea was some fit illustration with my style typog, made up of two separate stamps (this will cost me about £30 ouch) or i can do something nice with layers and colour and get some cards printed up much cheaper on moo.com... and then theres the whole oaps repping on my cards, cv and website versus wierd patterns and stuff. arg im driving myself crazy, this is why i could never freelance, i need some direction from someone.
